The writers’ advice I’ve heard most often through the years is to alway write about what you know, or write about what inspires you. With that in mind, I’ve started writing a new series called Love Inn Style.
If you haven’t noticed already, I love to travel! Growing up, we had many family traditions, but one I loved most was our annual trip to the Atlantic Coast of Florida every Easter vacation.
We first stayed in a cottage (one of seven) run by a family in Daytona Beach Shores. We’d swim in the ocean, jump the waves, walk on the beach, collect shells, and eat at amazing seafood and Italian restaurants! My love of the area grew as we continued vacationing there, making many friends and developing a deep connection in my heart.
Eventually, the cottages were sold to a lovely couple who expanded the operation to include a neighboring set of motel-like rooms and a large two-bedroom house. Once we started staying at the house, I was hooked for life!
Blending the intimate romantic feel of cottages, country inns, boutique hotels and small, historic hotels, and their unique character culminates in inspiration and stories for my new series. Combining idealism, romanticism, mystery and history into stories which take place at locations and setting around the country, and in exotic places provides the perfect vehicle for creating romantic love stories filled with hope, faith, trust and strength.
My first offering in this series is Love on the Fast Track.
Mary Dawson escapes her life in Maine for a long weekend, seeking the solitude and peace of a quaint, oceanfront inn on the beautiful Atlantic shores of Florida. The last thing Ben Ford, darling of the auto racing world, has on his mind is a new relationship.
