A Moment in “Michener’s Library”

Several weekends ago, my husband and I decided to take a break from everyday life and head to the Eastern Shore of Maryland for an overnight excursion.  We are lucky to be so close to the area, within about 100 miles.  Our destination was a beautiful resort nestled on the banks of the Choptank River in the small town of Cambridge.

Once we arrived, we began to relax.  It was quiet and peaceful there, and believe it or not, our destination has a connection to the world of writing.  I just can’t get away from it, even when I try.

The first place we explored in the hotel was a lovely lounge called, what else but, “Michener’s Library,” after the renowned author James Michener.  One of his well-known works, Chesapeake, is an epic saga which takes place along the banks of the Choptank.  Being there reminded me how lucky I am to live so close to an area that inspired such a great writer.  So much so, that I want to go back and revisit his famous work.

I invite you to explore some unique places that may be around your neck of the woods, and share the stories of rediscovering the passions and surroundings that inspire you or other authors to greatness!

As always,

Juliette
